ただし、本来の「なし崩し」の意味は違います。
「少しずつ終わらせる」という意味であり、必ずしも良くないこととは限りません。

However, the original sentence contains 「なってしまった」that implies something did not go the way the person wanted. So I thought the original should be understood in the former way this time.
