A: There is no kanji reading ポス (posu) in Japanese, so it seems that we have to use the kanji reading ポ (po), but these are limited; 歩, 保, 舗, 哺, 圃, 甫, 畝, 補, and 葡 of 葡萄牙（ポルトガル）, etc. However, they do not appear to correspond to the first letter of the image. Kanji read as ホ (ho) or ボ (bo) may be candidates.

I think there can be a possibility the 亜 means the initial letter of Arizona (if it's really 亜) where Poston is. However, even if though the only camp in Arizona is Poston, it is hard to imagine that the first two letters means Arizona. In the first place, the letters 叮 are unlikely to used by Japanese or Japanese Americans in my opinion (I learned about the character 叮 for the first time while researching related to this topic).

In case that the first two characters of the image is Arizona, the second character may be a Kanji that can be read as ソン (so'n) , ゾン (zo'n), スン (su'n); 村, 存, 寸, etc.

Of course the "もはべ"(Mohabe) should mean the Mojave Desert. Some images of these newspapers and journals written in Japanese can be found on the net. As far as I know, all of the place names were written in not Kanji but Katakana like "ポストン":
