Q:
We look forward to your continued patronage と We look forward to your continuing patronage はどう違いますか?
A:
Hello @nanamianimelove !
When reading these two sentences, at a glance, most people would have the same understanding of the message. But there is just a slight difference.
“Continued support” is the most common choice and usually used by charities and organisations. it means that the patron has already given their support previously and it is agreed/expected that they will continue to do so.
“Continuing support” is also thanking a patron for their support, but it is without the expectation that it will continue. The message is sort of suggesting that the organisation would like the patron to continue supporting and hopes they will do so.
Examples:
A person who is a patron of a ballet company, the company would say “thank you for your continued support.”
A person who donates books to a local book fair, the organiser would say “thank you for your continuing support.”
I hope this helps! 😃
