Q: wating for と wating on はどう違いますか?
A: “waiting for” means that you’re waiting for the person to arrive so they can join you. “Waiting on” means that the person is already there, but you’re waiting on the person to do something before the next thing can happen.
Example: I’m waiting for the bus/Tom to arrive. When the bus/Tom arrives, we can leave together.
We’re playing Chess. It’s your turn to make the move, so I’m waiting on you to do that before it’s my turn to make a move.
