It’s hard to say, honestly. Hopefully one of those scenarios makes sense with the story!

Y: I don't know, all my friends are cool because they smoke so I'm going along with them.
X: Don't be stupid, smoking won't get you anywhere. この表現は自然ですか?
A:
It is really good but a better way to say "I'm going along with them," in this sense might be better as "so I am doing it along with them". The phrase "get in on the act" would also be good too. Hope this helps!!!

A:
もっとも自然なのは、"Are you the type of person who has a casual relationship with many people, or an intense relationship with only a few? だと思います。 しかし、theの問題は、深い説明が要ると思います。 Theと言うと、相手の知っている(あるい、すぐ知る)名詞を他のものから区別し示すのです。でも、この場合では、そのpersonは他の人と区別されていません。 区別されているのはtypeですから。 The type to...と言ったら、ニュアンスは「他のことをするtypeではなく、こうするtypeだ」です。Personという言葉は、そのように区別されていないので、theが要りません。 ちなみに、type of Xは、英語の決まった表現で、theか aが入ってしまったら、変に聞こえます。 私の説明は雑ですが、役に立つと望んでいます。
Q:
現在完了形でsince X years agoは一緒に使えないって本当ですか?
I found the fact that English education in Japan teach that we cannot use ‘ago' with present perfect tense, and it seems to be very basic rule even secondary school students know.
I have never been taught such a rule in my school time, although I was sleeping in English classes.
If I say 'I have been learning British English since 2011.' or 'I have just opened the parcel 10 minutes ago.', then do you think it 'an awkward English'?

A:
I don't think it is 'an awkward expression' to say those sentences :) but, sometimes people would say 'I just opened the parcel' instead, because it seems better :) but I understand the other sentence too
