○: りんご→I usually use this one. I like hiragana.
○: リンゴ→general use or biological term
○: 林檎→This mainly appears in literary works or when he/she wants to be pedantic. It was quite rare before 1990's, where we did not have automatic kanji converting system.
○: みかん→general use
△: ミカン→biological term
△: 蜜柑→a word for kanji quiz!!
○: なし→general use
○: ナシ→general use or biological term
○: 梨→this also used in general

@nmr: yes I recommend using katakana to someone not used to kanji also !

i think u should use kanji or hiragana.
katakana for apple → アップル but its up to you it just my opinion.

@glin i dont know why but when i looked it up on google it said that its either リンゴ or 林檎 but not りんご and it never said i can use アップル im really confused 😂

@immagine: We use katakana much often than kanji for apples today, because it's hard even for Japanese to memorize kanji for the word, especially young people.
And we tend to use katakana for fruits and vegetables. I guess, it's only my guess though, one of the reasons for that is because many fruits and vegetables were introduced from abroad.
