Is 有用性 a correct way to express the concept of "usefulness"?
Firstly, I came across a video that said the word 有用, meaning "useful" is not common. Is that true? And in place they said to use 役に立つ (a verb phrase).
In English I can say this two ways:
That method is no longer useful.
That method has outlived its usefulness.
Usefulness = the property of being useful.
Is it natural to add 性 onto the word "useful" to express this, like in 弾性、柔軟性、etc.
And if it is, is 有用性 the most appropriate word?

有用 is not so much uncommon as formal. It's a fairly common word in writing.
The same is true with 有用性.
We normally say 役に立つ in casual conversation.
