犬は好きですが、猫はどうも･･･ とはどういう意味ですか?

I understand that this means, "I like dogs, but as for cats...!" However, I've never seen どうも used in this way. Has anybody seen this kind of usage before, and could you maybe give me some more examples of how this could be used? Thank you!

I think どうも is used when you don't want to say "I don't like cat." clearly. It's kind of japanese culture. It's the way of not saying clearly "I don't like something". We try being polite.

I feel this どうも is similar to "somehow". It's like "though I'm not sure why (I don't really like cats)".

In this situation, for example two people are talking about animals or not, the phrase that 犬は好きですが、猫はどうも･･･ implies that you don’t like cats. I like dogs (even if you just rather like dogs, that’s fine.) but (honestly) I don’t like cats.

Here are some example.
スポーツは好きですが、スポーツをするのはどうも…(I like sports but I don’t like playing sports by myself.)
勉強は好きですが、数学はどうも…
(Generally I like studying but as for math I actually don’t like it…)
