Hi ! This is an interesting question^^
I didn't know that so, I've just googled now.
友達、友だち
They mean the same thing completely and it is correct whichever you use.
However, In documents, etc., 友達 are often used because the Japanese government and others also recommend this word.
Then, why do we use these words in spite of the same meaning?
The answer has to do with "how difficult kanji characters are handled in Japan".
In Japan, we are instructed to write difficult kanji, especially those that are not regular kanji, in "hiragana". This is because most people cannot read kanji if this is too difficult.
And this kanji "達" is designated as one of those difficult kanji. It still is now.
I think that everyone in Japan can read this kanji, though.
In fact, I feel that we don't use this word in kanji. The following ones are examples.
君たち、私たち、あなたたち、学生たち
However, as for only "友達",the government of Japan recommend to write in kanji, so we use it mainly. But, I say it again, hiragana version is correct as well^^

同じ意味です。ただ、漢字だけよりもひらがなが入ることで、言葉に柔らかみが出るという違いだけです。
似たようなことだと、子供/子ども、があります。

気持ち悪い
気持悪い
They mean the same thing completely.
I think this question might be related to the explanation earlier.
In Japan, some kanjis are recommended to be written in hiragana even if it is written in kanji.
That is in order to read it easily for us. And this word "気持ち悪い" is a good example.
Both are correct, but "気持ち悪い" is often used because of above reason.
Btw, if you type "きもちわるい" in hiragana and push conversion button in Japanese keyboard, you will be able to see "気持ち悪い" ,so we could say that 持ち is preferred to use than 持悪.

@shimicoo@SaltyPotatoChips@SaltyPotatoChips みんなすごい優しです! ありがとうございます!

@SaltyPotatoChips Your explanation was so detailed that I am totally understood the difference between those almost same words now.
Also you are the Japanese who best English speaking ability I have ever seen in my opinion. I am really admired for your ability and the attitude. It's easier when I learning Japanese in Chinese or English than learning in Japanese because my Japanese is weak.
And, don't worry about telling Kanji is hard to me. It's not a obstacle when it comes to telling Kanji to me because I from Taiwan🇹🇼
Last, I am really appreciate about your responses which explained the Japanese grammers, ありがとうございます!
