I’m learning ひらがな now and some simple phrases also, and words like もつと (English - more) are coming up.

The system im using shows that つ is silent there and more of a way at jointing も & と rather than actually being used audibly (properly pronounced.) Is my understanding here correct? In cases like this is つ simply used for the grammatical purpose of joining the characters it separates?

Hmm it’s difficult to explain but I’m gonna try. The word you’re saying is もっと I suppose. In this case つ is small like this っ. Therefore you don’t pronounce as normal つ but yeah small one (っ) works like a connector. Does it make sense?

I believe I understand for now. I’m only still just learning ひらがな and カタカナ for now so i’m sure ill come to learn and understand it more when i get to proper grammar & actual sentence forming.
