@Ekatreena it still sounds unnatural to me. i don't think Americans would use rest in this context. I think we usually use "rest" for something that lasts for a short period of time, and one year is too long for me.

I would say "to rest". however, rest has to be one of the most over-used words I see non-natives use... I'd maybe say something like relax instead...just me though.
