Sometimes I feel I cannot understand an essay unless I read it word by word aloud, even though there is totally no new word. I think I might have a English dyslexia...I really appreciate if someone could give me some advise about how to read like a native...thanks..

Hi. I can't really help you with that matter as I cannot tell how severe your problem is. One thing for sure: there are no such thing as "English dyslexia". If you have dyslexia, you'll struggle to read in any language, not just English. In my opinion, you're just not used to reading essays, that's why it may seem so difficult. Try reading this text many times without interruption. Then find a more challenging one. Rinse and repeat. Practice makes perfect after all. Hope this helps!

@jen2869: just keep reading as much as you can... perhaps you can find english-chinese texts to understand the meaning? write down words you dont know and look them up in a dictionary... remember, there are so many words in a language, its very difficult to know all of them, just know the most common ones, and any that comes across as strange, look it up.
